Next workshop:
MURPHYS, CALIFORNIA
SEPTEMBER 2010
Dates to be announced

Three days, $300

"This workshop was everything I hoped it would be and more.  I studied art in college, but now spend most of my time and creative energy in the field of Public Relations.  I wanted to take this class to get myself over the hurdle and back to painting again for myself.  From this workshop, I hoped for a chance to paint for 3 days, to learn from a professional artist who’s work I admired, and to work with a group of other artists who were there for the same thing.  I got all that and more!  While there, I learned how to use color to it’s best advantage, compose a dynamic image, and to consider carefully how the values and hues I place on the canvas relate to each other.  These things are so important to creating a great painting and yet there were no lessons like these in any of my art classes in college.   I would recommend this workshop with great enthusiasm that anyone who wants to work in a supportive environment with a great teacher."  Sarah Swenty

About The Workshops

My particular bias is that a painting done from an actual subject is more alive than one painted from photographs, so we will paint from life, outdoors. What I tell you about painting, I prove by demonstrating. I will not only show you how to develop a painting from start to finish, I will explain why, and then help you learn by doing.

You will get one-on-one help as you practice what you are learning. I'll help you simplify your painting procedure so you can spend less time thinking about your materials and more time expressing the feeling of your subject.

You will receive personal coaching tailored to your current level of development and the painting goals you have set for yourself.

To make the most of this workshop, you need some painting experience, but you don't need to be an expert. You will need a minimum level of drawing skill. The May workshop has been completed. To get on the alert list for the next workshop, click here.
