I like direct, put-the-paint-on-the-canvas-and-leave-it-alone oil painting. There’s a balancing point between keeping track of all the technical stuff and just letting the brush do what it wants to do. There’s a sweet spot between using what I know and trusting what I don’t know. It helps to be decisive, and a little bit careless.
